How long will it take to be compensated for my injuries?

Your injuries may require extensive treatment; the other driver may dispute whether he was at fault; you may have to file a lawsuit to have a court determine who was a fault and how much you can recover. If an attorney tells you that you will get a quick settlement without fully analyzing all of the aspects of your case, consider whether you are settling for less than what you are entitled to recover.

When should I contact an attorney?

Immediately. First, if you are injured, you likely need medical care. The sooner you start getting treatment for your injuries, the better. As your attorney, I will help you get the medical care that you need for your injuries. Second, if you don’t file a lawsuit in time, you may lose your claim – and your chance at compensation – forever. In Louisiana, the statute of limitations for filing a personal injury lawsuit is one year from the date of the accident.
